Pirongia Clydesdales
The Pirongia Clydesdales are situated in Pirongia, in the lower North Island of New Zealand. The team, owned by Nick and Jill van der Sande started out as the country's biggest brewery horse team in 1989, located just out of Auckland. Nick and JIll managed the team for 14 years, travelling the length and breadth of the country promoting DB Beer. But In 1999, the brewery suddenly put a stop to the famous team, leaving the van der Sandes at a crossroads as to what to do....

The van der Sande family now own the team and are open to the public. Although the team of purebred Black Clydesdales are run on a slightly smaller scale, the black beauties are a popular choice for Wedding transportation, Wagon ride Picnics, Carriage Driving tuition, Events and even the occasional funeral. The Carriage House venue in Pirongia houses various memorabilia, antique harnesses, merchandise and of course the beautiful Show Wagons.

Many groups visit the venue and are treated to a wonderful Wagon ride around the historic Pirongia Village on the ever popular Stage Coach, and enticed to a delicious meal on arrival back. Visitors are able to enjoy the peaceful surroundings with various animals, the Clydesdale foals and movie star animals including a Horse that starred on Lord Of The Rings.
